In 1898 Kinkadō Tsujimoto published a picture book entitled Keibun Kinkachō (Kinkadō's Album of Drawings by Keibun). It included the seventeen pictures of flowers and (or) birds shown in this gallery. Click on a picture to enlarge it. These pictures were drawn by Keibun Matsumura (1779-1843) who was a well known painter and brother of Goshun Matsumura (1752-1811). Goshun was a founder of the Shijō Painting School which combined the realism of Ōkyo Maruyama (1733-1795) with the expressiveness of the Chinese Nanga Painting School. Keibun used the Shijō drawing style for the pictures included in this picture book. To see more of Keibun’s art click here.
